Forms & releases.

Every shooter needs three signed forms on file before stepping onto the line. You can sign them online in the member portal — it takes about two minutes — or download and print the PDFs and hand them to a coach. Signatures are good for one year from the day they are signed, and the portal will tell you when a renewal is coming due.

Waiver & release of liability

In consideration for being permitted access to the Richland Creek Top Guns Shooting Facility (“RCTG”), a shooting range located at 148 Seleta Circle, Lexington, SC 29073 (the “Premises”), and to participate in self-administered or instructor-administered live ammunition firearms activities, I, for myself, my legal representatives, heirs, and next of kin, hereby agree to the following:

  1. 1. Acknowledgment of Risk

I acknowledge that firearms and ammunition are hazardous and can cause substantial injury or death. I recognize the inherent dangers, including but not limited to: loud noise, flying bullets/fragments, clay target shards, smoke, lead exposure, and uneven terrain. I understand that others will be using the Premises and acknowledge their presence.

  2. 2. Assumption of Risk & Waiver

I voluntarily assume all risk of injury to my person and property. I waive the right to bring any claims against RCTG, its coaches, administrators, members, volunteers, and the County of Lexington (the “Related Parties”) for any injury, death, or property damage arising out of my use of the Premises, except in cases of RCTG's intentional or criminal acts. I agree to wear appropriate eye and ear protection at all times.

  3. 3. Release of Liability

I expressly release RCTG and all Related Parties from any and all liability for damages or losses arising from the use of the Premises or any instruction offered thereon. This release applies to myself, my executors, and my heirs.

  4. 4. Environmental & Natural Hazards

I acknowledge that the Premises is a rural, unimproved area. I assume the risk of hazards posed by nature, including but not limited to: rocky terrain, mud, poisonous plants, ticks, snakes, and wildlife. I agree to use caution accordingly.

  5. 5. Compliance with Rules & Inspection

I agree to comply with all posted Range Safety Rules and instructions from RCTG coaches. I consent to the inspection of any firearms, ammunition, or gear I bring onto the Premises. I understand that failure to follow rules may result in immediate removal or expulsion.

  6. 6. Indemnification

I agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RCTG and Related Parties from all claims, losses, or legal fees (including attorney's fees) arising out of my actions or the actions of any minors under my supervision. This agreement remains in effect as long as I am a member or guest using the facility.

  7. 7. Legal Eligibility

I certify that I may lawfully own and operate firearms within the State of South Carolina and that I am not disqualified from possessing firearms by any state or federal law.

  8. 8. Minor Participants

I am the parent or legal guardian of the minor(s) registered with RCTG. I agree to supervise them at all times and agree that all waivers, releases, and indemnity duties in this agreement apply to their participation.

Ground rules & participant expectations

The team participates in three very different divisions: SCDNR, SCYSF and SCTP, and shoots in all disciplines of the sport (sporting/skeet/trap). These combinations can make for complex situations when it comes to creating shooting squads and the training of those shooters. The coaches ask that you respect and trust them to do what is best for your child and the team.

  1. 01

The main goals of the sport of shooting are to have fun, build character, and support each other and the team; however, we also want to always place our top shooters together for the opportunity to win and be successful. Winning is not everything, but when shooters put in tireless effort to be the best, they deserve the best chance to win.

  2. 02

Each event is different with regards to divisions of shooters and the best ways for a squad to be built. We do not want to set a precedent that a shooter will only shoot with the same people for all events. Character building comes from being flexible and adaptable. Mental toughness comes from handling it all in stride.

  3. 03

When emails/notifications are sent with a deadline to respond, it is imperative that you respond promptly. This provides the team necessary time to properly squad teams and provide coaches with notice that they are needed for a particular event.

  4. 04

All RCTG shooters must obtain and maintain Amateur Trap Shooting Association (ATA) and National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) memberships. Typically this is handled yearly when we register for Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) memberships. Once you get your individual cards with the membership number, please send that information to Sherri Corley so it can be entered into the shooter registration system. SCDNR and SCYSF require hunter education verification/numbers as well; you cannot shoot in those events without that requirement.

  5. 05

Your child will be squadded with those who have similar skill sets to ensure the best chance for success in an event. The head coach and assistant coach make decisions on where shooters will be, based on skill set.

  6. 06

Practice makes perfect. Regular practice will be offered to all team members at no cost on Mondays and Tuesdays. A $25 per hour fee will be charged for any practice held outside of these two days. This fee helps cover coaches' gas and time. The fee will be waived for any practice session scheduled on a different day to prepare for an upcoming skeet, trap, or sporting clays tournament, or when necessitated by a scheduling conflict.

  7. 07

Fundraiser activity is expected from each family. If your child is using the team's resources, this is the way to give back to the club.

  8. 08

If obtaining a sponsorship, please do so for the team.

  9. 09

To offset the costs of range operations, including utilities, insurance, and equipment maintenance, each family will be assessed a monthly membership fee of $40 per athlete. Much like a standard gym membership, this flat fee applies every month regardless of attendance. Invoices will be issued on the 1st of each month, with payment expected no later than the 5th. Preferred payment options are TeamSnap, Zelle, or Check.

  10. 10

To participate in competitions, athletes will need to pay the associated fees within five days of being billed. You can expect to receive a payment request through TeamSnap. All fees (including club fees) must be paid in order to compete. Event costs: SCYSF $100 regular competitions and $110 state competition; SCTP $35–$57 per event depending on discipline; SCDNR free.

  11. 11

If at any time the shooter/family feels that RCTG is no longer the fit for them, they are under no obligation to remain a member. Likewise, RCTG reserves the right to abort coaching and team resources to those who do not adhere to the rules and guidelines set forth unto the team.

  12. 12

In the instance a team member leaves the team, the guidelines and rules regarding joining another team will be followed (as set by SCYSF, SCTP, etc.). If the termination of membership occurs during the active shooting season, the shooter must remain inactive with any other team until the next year's enrollment. A formal request of release by the accepting team must be received before a formal letter of release is issued by RCTG. The coaches and executive committee reserve the right to release (or not release) the 4H/SCTP hold on members.

  13. 13

Every member must sign a waiver and release of liability, assumption of risk, and indemnity agreement for the practice facility.

  14. 14

Any concerns regarding these rules or guidelines should be addressed with the head coach or assistant coach.

Upon signing this document, I confirm that I have read, fully understand, and agree to abide by all rules and expectations outlined in the RCTG Ground Rules & Participant Expectations document. I acknowledge my responsibility to comply with these rules and understand that failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the team.
